A recent and welcome addition to Microsoft Edge was the inclusion of extensions, a mainstream in modern day browsers. While the selection of extensions at the time is sparse, it will soon expand with the passage of time.

There are currently a good number of quality extensions readily available for users to download and install in Microsoft Edge. And now, a new extension has caught our attention.

Office Online for Microsoft Edge

Office Online [Windows Store] is a new extension that is now available on the Windows Store, ready to download! It lets you quickly access all Office Online programs and your recent files. That’s right, Much like Google Docs, Sheets, etc. You now have access to the web versions of Office apps such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

The only caveat is that you have to sign-in and approve of the extension from your Microsoft account by signing into Microsoft Edge which, if you are using as the main account, does that for you by default.

When you install the extension, you need only to click on the three dots at the menu bar of Microsoft Edge and go down to “Extensions“. When you have located the extension, click on it, and make sure you enable the toggle of  “Show button next to address bar“.

This will add the extension as a shortcut to the address bar, allowing you to access it in a single click as shown in the picture below:

As you can see, this is something that MANY people will easily be grateful to have access to. Albeit, the loading times leave much to be desired, but this is still a good “home away from home” should you find yourself on a system without Microsoft Office installed but still need to get some work done.

Currently, this is a favorite extension of mine, It saves one the trouble of going to the addresses necessary for accessing Office Online and gives us a straight away avenue to it in a small menu!

Let us know what are your thoughts on the extension!
