At GDC 2014 we met up with Gamevil to look at their upcoming action RPG called Elements: Epic Heroes. Players build up a party of adorably blocky heroes and take on classic fantasy quests and adventures. A lot of this involves hacking your way through various monsters, but the real interesting thing here is the control scheme. There aren’t any clunky dual joysticks here, players just need to tap where they want to move or who they want to attack. Double-tapping is imperative to dodge incoming danger, but also handy to speed up your movement. There are a few virtual buttons for special abilities, but by and large, getting around is very easy. Dialogue with NPCs is colorful and light, and there’s plenty of loot to dive into.
This freemium action-RPG will be hitting the Play Store in the second quarter of this year.
