IOBit Advanced SystemCare 10 Free is the latest iteration of the all-in-on cleanup and optimization suite for Windows devices.

While the new version does not ship with many new features, there is only FaceID and it has limited uses, most of the tools that the suite ships with have been improved.

As far as FaceID is concerned, it is added to Advanced SystemCare’s ever growing list of protection tools. FaceID requires a web cam that is connected to the PC. Once set up, it will monitor the PC for unauthorized use using facial recognition technology.

Basically, what it does is capture the photo of any unauthorized user (anyone but you) so that you see who tried to access your PC in your absence. The feature may or may not be useful depending on how you are using the PC.

The installation of Advanced SystemCare 10 Free does not hold any surprises. You may select custom install to change the installation directory and block the creation of a desktop shortcut, but that is about it. No unwanted third-party programs or anything like that; good.

The program does add itself as an auto-starting service, and to the system start however. You will also notice a series of connection attempts to IOBit servers which you can block without losing program functionality it seems.

IOBit Advanced SystemCare 10 Free divides its tools into the following groups: speed up, protect, clean & optimize, toolbox and action center.

  • Speed Up: Tools in this group list a number of tweaks that you may apply to your system. There is a Turbo Boost feature that releases RAM by stopping unnecessary apps or services, an option to remove toolbars and malicious apps or plugins, and an option to scan for outdated drivers.
  • Protect: Only the Homepage protection is enabled by default. This monitors system browsers for unwanted changes to the homepage or search engine. Other options include the previously mentioned FaceID protection, browsing and ads removal, and an option called reinforce for Windows 10. The latter offers a collection of tweaks to block telemetry data and disable certain features such as administrative shares or remote assistance services.
  • Clean & Optimize: This looks like a temporary file cleaner on first glance, but it is more than that. It runs a variety of checks that include scans for junk files but also for startup items, Registry issues and more. This is not as comprehensive as specialized tools like CCleaner, but it covers a lot of ground.
  • Toolbox: This is an assortment of various tools, of which some need to be downloaded before they can be used. Tools include the usual, a file shredder and undelete tool for instance, or a Registry defragmenter. These tools are not needed all the time — some not at all as they are mostly snake oil –, but others may come in handy at times.

Some items are marked as Pro which means that they cannot be used by users of the free version.

Closing Words

IOBit Advanced SystemCare 10 Free ships with a massive list of tools and features. Some can be extremely useful, others on the other hand can best be described as snake oil. This does not make it a bad program or program suite, but it may be time to look hard at the features that the suite offers and maybe remove those that are proven not to be beneficial to the system.

Tools like Turbo Boost, Smart RAM, Registry Cleaner or Internet Boost need to be mentioned in this regard.

Advanced SystemCare 10 Free is a well designed program on the other hand that some users will find useful.
