Changing settings of an AMD Ati Radeon card is a tedious task, especially if the steps have to repeated regularly as it involves opening the Catalyst Control Panel, finding the right menu and making the changes.
It takes some time and is not really that practical if you change settings regularly. ATI Tray Tools is a collection of tools for AMD ATI Radeon video cards that are all accessible from the system tray menu of the Windows operating system.
Directly accessible from the system tray menu are the standard features that the ATI Catalyst Control Panel offers including switching the display resolution, 3D settings like configuring antialiasing or Catalyst AI or screen rotations.

Access to those direct configuration settings are just one part of what ATI Tray Tools is offering.
3D settings that are changed by the user can be saved to a 3D profile that is then directly available for selection in the menu. It is furthermore possible to configure game profiles to optimize video card settings for specific games.
The options provided there include selecting one of the available 3D profiles, but also other settings like overclocking the hardware or applying Direct3D tweaks.
A desktop shortcut can be created for each game profile you create so that you can launch the game with the selected configuration directly from the desktop or other locations on the device.

Update: The program has been updated in 2011 the last time. While some of its features will still work with never cards released by AMD, it is likely that some won’t and that others are not supported at all.
While AMD has added some of the supported features to the Catalyst software package, others are not supported.
You may want to check out RadeonPRO, a free third-party program to control AMD video cards and enable a set of features that Catalyst does not offer.
