Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4/10.1, Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and Galaxy Tab 3 Lite rumored for Q1 launch

Rumors have been circulating for the past several weeks surrounding possible Samsung tablets arriving in early 2014, and now one outlet is claiming to have nailed down the specific branding behind these devices. SamMobile reports through “insider” sources that Samsung will launch four new tablets in the first quarter of next year — the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and Galaxy Tab 3 Lite. The “Pro” models will purportedly come in Wifi and LTE variants, while the Tab 3 Lite will have a 3G cellular option in addition to Wifi-only.

The purported “Galaxy Tab Pro” devices seem to jive with recent reports out of Korea indicating that Samsung tabs around the 8 and 10-inch mark are coming to compete with Apple’s iPad Air and retina iPad Mini. One such report suggests both will pack high-res AMOLED displays as opposed to the LCD panels used in current Samsung tablets. Meanwhile a 12.2-inch Galaxy Note tablet has been rumored since late July, where it was mentioned alongside what turned out to be the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. Naturally all three “Pro” devices are expected to be high-end offerings.

By contrast the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite would seem to be a decidedly entry-level device — SamMobile reports a price point around €100 for the budget-centric tab. The site suggests a launch in the second week of 2014 for the Tab 3 Lite, with the Pro 8.4 and Note Pro 12.2 following in week six and the Pro 10.1 arriving in week seven.

With the exception of the Galaxy Note 10.1, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen a traditional high-end Android tablet out of Samsung. We’ll take these unconfirmed reports with a pinch of salt we hear any official word, but if they’re accurate we could be in for an interesting few months in the Android tablet space.
