$1,699 will score you the Galaxy NX body and an 18-55 F/3.5-5.6 lens — and Jelly Bean
Originally expected in October, the Samsung Galaxy NX is available today for folks in the US, provided you want to pay $1,700 for it all. Sporting a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and Android Jelly Bean under the hood, the camera should do anything Android-related you want it to do. The other specs sound equally as capable — APS-C sensor, 1/6000 shutter speed, and ISO settings as high as 25,600 mean that you’ll be able to get some very nice pictures out of this one.
But for $1,700 you had better get great pictures.
We’re not sure if the addition of Android justifies the $1,000 premium over other great APS-C mirrorless cameras, and just don’t see this one gaining any traction. This price-point is more suited to full-frame cameras, rather than an entry-level “prosumer” (I hate that term) model.
Alex had a chance to look over the NX this past June in London, and I’ve had a chance to see one briefly at a Samsung store here in the states. It’s a nice camera for people who want more than an average point and shoot, and the few shots I was able to take and view did look nice.
