As Google I/O 2016 has kicked off its first day, Xiaomi has taken the opportunity to announce a new Android TV powered Mi Box boasting 4K support. What’s more, unlike Xiaomi’s past Mi Box offerings, this latest offering will eventually make its way to U.S. shores.
If hard specs are your concern, Xiaomi says that its latest Mi Box will support 4K at 60 frames per second, along with HDR, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS surround sound. You’ll control things with a Bluetooth voice remote, and there will also be an option Mi Game Controller for getting the most out of your games.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi doesn’t have any specific timeframe for the Mi Box’s launch other than “soon.”
Xiaomi will be in good company, as Google announced earlier today that more Android TV products are also on their way from the likes of Sony, Sharp and more. And for content, Google noted that Android TV users can look forward to new apps from Spotify, ABC, CNN and a slew of others.
