At CES 2016, Haier announced the HaierPad 971. Featuring a 9.7-inch QXGA (2048×1536) IPS display and a 1.8GHz quad-core CPU, the tablet looks like a decent budget offering, even offering what Haier calls the “latest Android OS version,” which according to them is Android 4.4 KitKat.
Other specs include 2GB of RAM, 16GB storage, microSD slot, 8MP camera and a 2MP front shooter, and a 7800mAh battery, but they don’t matter as the tablet is dead on arrival thanks to the outdated software. If you’re in the market for a budget slate, the $199 NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1 is a much more enticing option.
