The new version should be discovered automatically by the software which then guides the user through the installation process. Users should take note that the installation does not only offer to install iTunes and Quicktime but also the Safari web browser.
The Windows version of iTunes 9.1.1 has a size of about 94 Megabytes which is exactly the size of the full iTunes version that can be downloaded from the Apple website.
Some users might need to start iTunes as administrators to be able to install the update without difficulties. A computer restart is required after the installation.
Update: Note that iTunes 9.1.1 is not the the latest version of Apple’s music management software anymore. Note that you can always update from within iTunes if you prefer that, or use the website. The website displays an email address form on the download page which you do not have to fill out to download the program.
