A big saving on the mid-level Moto X in the UK.

If you’ve been eyeing Motorola’s mid-range Moto X Play, today’s Amazon UK sale may be tempting. For today only (Monday, Nov. 23) the online retail giant is selling the Moto X Play in black with 16GB of storage for £199.99. That’s a significant cut from the £260-280 price range normally occupied by the Play.

With a Snapdragon 615 processor inside and a plastic chassis, the Moto X Play isn’t Motorola’s most powerful or eye-catching handset, but it does have a couple of major advantages over other cheap phones. It’s got an enormous 3630mAh fixed battery, as well as the same camera sensor used by the more expensive Moto X Style. You’re also getting “pure” Android 5.1.1 Lollipop alongside many of Moto’s headline software enhancements, like Moto Display.

At launch the Moto X Play had a few performance issues, but many of these have been mitigated by subsequent app updates. So for £200 you’re getting an awful lot of smartphone.
