Update: Good news! Google has reached out to let us know that Tasker is back in Google Play and all is well. Their official statement:
We can confirm that Tasker is available again on Google Play. We worked very closely with the developer to resolve the situation and ensure that the app was in compliance with our policies.
The original story is below.
Tasker has unfortunately vanished from the Google Play Store. Should you not have the task managing app installed, you’ll be out of luck attempting to get it through official Google channels.
For those not familiar with what Tasker does, it allows you to create and have tasks automatically perform various tasks, like silencing your phone when asleep and waking you up in the morning with some music. Luckily, the app doesn’t appear to be have been pulled by the developer, who has since responded to various inquiries from users of Tasker:
“Google have removed it, as far as I can see mistakenly since they are complaining about something being in the manifest which is simply not there. In a couple of days, after I’ve got a few thousand complaint emails, they may have gotten round to reading the appeal.”
Hopefully Google will get round to sorting out this issue soon. We’ll be sure to keep you all in the loop and update should the app be made available for download once again.
