Chrome will be removing its dedicated notification center in an upcoming release as Google looks to streamline notifications for everyone. This doesn’t mean that Chrome is changing the way push notifications are handled, just that there will no longer be a dedicated hub to find all the previous notifications. After realizing few users visited the notification center, the company has decided to streamline the way notifications are handled by removing it.

Developers who have apps or extensions that send notifications solely to the notification center will need to make some changes. Notifications sent to only the notification center will result in an error and API events tied to the center will no longer function. Google hopes that this will simplify the notification experience for users on its browsers.
