Racer headed to Google Play Store ‘shortly’

Today at the Samsung Developers Conference in San Francisco, game developer Cie Games has announced the arrival of its drag-racing title, Racing Rivals, on Android. The game, which launched on iOS back in August, pits players against each other in real-time races in a number of real-world cars, with a vehicle tuning and tweaking system allowing gamers to customize their vehicles’ look and performance. An in-game betting system also allows players to play for in-game cash as well as personal glory.

Racing Rivals for Android is due to arrive on Google Play “shortly” according to today’s press release, so we’ll keep an eye on the Play Store and update this post when the download is available.

Cie Games Reveals Racing Rivals Android Version at Samsung Developers Conference

Top-Ranked Live Drag Racing Mobile Game Has Enjoyed Unrivaled Success on iOS, Topping Racing Charts Worldwide

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Oct. 28, 2013 – Cie Games, a leading developer and publisher of mobile and social games, revealed the Android version of its highly-successful mobile drag racing title Racing Rivals at Samsung Developers Conference today. Since its launch on the App Store in August, fans have been clamoring for a version for Android devices. Racing Rivals offers live, synchronous multi-player racing fueled by an innovative in-game betting system, and has topped iTunes Racing Game charts in more than 50 countries.

“As the only drag racing game that provides authentic live, synchronous multi-player gameplay, Racing Rivals has dominated the competition on iOS devices,” said Dennis Suggs, chief executive officer, Cie Games. “In the two months since release, we’ve been the highest-grossing racing app, reaching the top of the racing charts in 50 countries and still going strong. And now we’re ready to bring the racing experience that’s been embraced by millions of fans to Android device owners.”

Despite being an underdog to big mobile publishers with hit racing games, Racing Rivals has seen great success on the App Store, with more than one million downloads within the first week of launch, and will now be available on the Google Play store.

“We have seen several self-claimed multi-player racing games, but the truth is these are nothing more than ghost races where players are racing another player’s data stored in the cloud; it’s asynchronous racing,” said Matt Nutt, vice president of business development and operations, Cie Games. “Racing Rivals stands out from the competition as the community recognizes the passion and commitment our team has invested into creating a realistic drag-racing experience which captures the adrenaline rush that comes from putting everything on the line to be decided by tenths, even hundredths, of a second.”

Racing Rivals features thousands of potential car configurations with realistic cars and parts, including tires from partner Nitto Tires, all of which will have an impact on your car’s performance or appearance. In a game where fractions of a second can mean the difference between bragging rights and losing your ride, every upgrade matters. Cie Games encourages players to swap tuning tips on the official Racing Rivals forums and Facebook page to find out how to get the best performance out of any given car.

Racing Rivals will be available on Google Play shortly and is currently available for iPhone and iPad on the App Store at http://rr.ciegam.es/appstore.
