More than 50 percent of Americans are planning to purchase an electronic gift this holiday season. Here are the gifts that are at the top of people’s wishlists, along with a look at what people are planning to give, according to a survey carried out by protection plan provider SquareTrade.
Does this match what people want to receive? Well, the tablet is the most wanted electronic gift — which will be good for Apple, especially given how weak iPad sales have become — but the number two and three spots are totally different:
29 percent want a tablet24 percent want a smartphone22 percent want a TV
And for those in the 18 to 24-year-old category, the top choice for most wanted gift is unexpected.
“While tablets were the overall top gift choice, surprisingly, we found that 18-24-year olds would actually prefer to receive headphones over any other gadget,” said Steve Abernethy, executive chairman at SquareTrade.
