HSBC Android Pay

The UK is the second market Google has launched Android Pay in, with the app being updated to facilitate transactions on the mainland. Should you be with a supported bank, you’ll now be able to attach and use a card on your phone. All you need to do is setup Android Pay with a Google Account, add compatible Visa and Mastercard cards and you’re good to go.

If you’re one who doesn’t enjoy unlocking their device via a pattern, PIN or password and do not have a fingerprint sensor, you’ll need to configure one of these measures in order for Android Pay to function, which makes sense. You wouldn’t want just anyone having access to your cards, right? Android Pay will even work on the Transport for London network.

Supported banks include:

  • Bank of Scotland
  • First Direct
  • Halifax
  • HSBC
  • Lloyds Bank
  • M&S Bank
  • MBNA
  • Nationwide Building Society

While individual transactions with other means of contactless payments are limited to just £30, those rocking Android Pay or Apple Pay will be able to go above and beyond if the retailer sport newer terminals. If not, you’ll need to resort to cash or cards to spend more in a single go. And of course, Barclays will not support Android Pay. Because, Barclays.

You’ll need to download Android Pay from the Play Store in order to get started. Fear not if Android Pay is not yet available in your country as Google is working to address this. Singapore and Australia are next on the list.
