There are a lot of questions to be asked about the new Nexus phones, but performance shouldn’t be one of them.
Google launched two Nexus phones this year, and on paper it looks like there’s a substantial different between the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X. Benchmarks are never going to tell the whole story, so the real question is: How does this phone behave with real-world usage? Since both the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are running essentially identical versions of Android, comparing the two side-by-side shouldn’t be that hard.
And that’s exactly what we did. Take a look.
It doesn’t really make sense to call the Nexus 5X “slow,” especially when it’s being compared to the blistering-fast Nexus 6P. The differences are subtle, and are even smaller if aren’t one to play a ton of games on your phone.
As you can see, there’s not a huge difference between the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X when placed under identical load. The Snapdragon 810 with 3GB of RAM in the Nexus 6P is obviously getting better results than the Snapdragon 808 with 2GB of RAM in the Nexus 5X, but in no way is the decrease in performance a deal-breaker when you consider the $120 difference in price between the two phones.
