During its IFA press conference, Samsung teased an upcoming tablet called the Galaxy View, highlighting a built-in kickstand. The manufacturer used phrases like “think bigger” and “a new dimension of entertainment,” and a spate of rumors since have suggested that the tablet offers an 18.5-inch display.

The Galaxy View — with model number SM-T677A — has now made its way to the FCC, with AT&T branding at the back. Leaked benchmarks from earlier this month revealed a resolution of 1920 x 1080, 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos processor, Mali-T720 GPU, 32GB storage, 2GB of RAM, 2MP front shooter and a 5,700mAh battery. The AT&T branding suggests that the device will offer LTE connectivity, with the FCC certification image pointing to the presence of stereo speakers at the back.

The specs don’t correspond to what we’ve seen on offer from Samsung in recent years, but with the manufacturer stating that the View will belong to a new category of device, it is likely the tablet will either be aimed at the education sector, or find use as a home entertainment device. We should be hearing more from Samsung regarding the Galaxy View later this month, so stay tuned.
