Gog.com Summer Sale 2017 brings huge discounts

The gog.com Summer Sale 2017 has started, and it brings along with it discounts for more than 1500 products and more.

Gog.com is a digital distribution platform that works a bit differently from heavyweights such as Steam, uPlay or Origin. Two of the main differentiators are that it does not require customers to use a client software program (customers may use Gog Galaxy optionally), and that the program’s it offers are not making use of DRM.

The platforms initial focus was on old classic games. In fact, gog.com was known as Good Old Games back then, but that term is not used anymore as new games are offered by the digital distribution platform as well.

The bulk of games however are probably still classic computer games made to work well on modern machines.

The Summer Sale 2017 on gog.com works for the most part as you’d expect it to. More than 1500 games have been discounted on the site, and you may purchase any of those with an account. Deals offer up to 90% discounts.

The homepage of the service lists highlights, collections, and what is popular in regards to deals. This comes down to personal taste obviously, but here is a short list of deals that I find very interesting:

  • Dragon Age: Origins – Ultimate Edition for €3.99 — The first game in the Dragon Age franchise with all its DLCs included. In my opinion, the best game of the franchise.
  • Forgotten Realms – The Archives – Collection One (entire Eye of the Beholder series) for €1.79 — Played this on the Commodore Amiga initially. One of the best DnD dungeon crawlers.
  • Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series for €6.99 — I enjoyed playing this adventure game with some “tough choices” based on Game of Thrones.
  • Indiana Jones Series for €4.28 — Buy the two classic Lucas Arts adventures Fate of Atlantis and Last Crusade, and get the Emperor’s Tomb on top of that.
  • Heroes of Might and Magic entire series up to Homam 5 for €21.04 — The first five games of Heroes of Might and Maigc in the complete, gold or bundle edition, plus Heroes Chronicles.

There are plenty more treasures to be found if you dig deep enough. Myst Masterpiece Edition, Wing Commander Privateer, Ultimate Underworld 1 and 2, Populous, Master of Orion 1 and 2, Dungeon Keeper 2, and more, all for less than €2.

If you make at least one purchase, you get the game Rebel Galaxy as a free gift.

Gog users who have an account on Steam as well may want to check the latest games eligible for the company’s connect program. You may use Gog Connect to add the Steam games to your Gog account free of charge.

Now You: Are you still excited about summer game sales? Are you a gog user?
