Samsung ChatON

In you’re onboard with Samsung’s ChatON messaging client, you’ll be pleased to learn that it’s been updated today with a handful of significant new features. ChatON 3.5 introduces the ability to recall messages you’ve already sent, avoiding potential embarrassment. The feature works in 1-on-1 chats and can be used even if the other person has already read that incriminating message.

Group chats handle up to 1,001 people, and file transfers of up to 1GB are supported.

Alongside this Snapchat-like functionality, the app has also been updated to include realtime location tracking through the Glympse app, allowing your friends to follow where you are for a set period of time. The upper limit for group chats has been increased from 200 to 1,001, and large file transfers up to 1GB are supported, making it easier to send large audio or video files. (The changelog reveals this is only available in “some countries,” however, and you’ll be limited to using this feature no more than five times a day.) And finally, ChatON 3.5 adds translation features for Arabic, Turkish, Farsi and Hindi too, bringing the number of supported languages up to 14.

All of that on top of the SMS integration introduced for some late last year.

The new version 3.5 of ChatON is available to download now through Google Play, as well as Samsung’s own app store.
