A little under one year ago saw Samsung introduce the Galaxy Core, a mid-range Android with specs from a year prior and a price to match, and today they’re following up with the Galaxy Core LTE. Like its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Core LTE isn’t exactly an overwhelming device, but it’s still one that will be adequate — especially in the low-cost markets at which Samsung is targeting the phone.
The Galaxy Core LTE sports a 1.2GHz dual core processor (just like its predecessor) and a 5MP rear camera (just like its predecessor). The visual language has been updated, where the Galaxy Core looked like a smaller Galaxy S III, the Galaxy Core LTE apes the design language of its more powerful bigger brother Galaxy S4.
The big hallmark feature for the Galaxy Core LTE over its predecessor is in its name, and that’d be the addition of LTE. The Galaxy Core LTE also has a better screen, upgrading from the 4.3-inch 480×800 WVGA screen of its predecessor to a 4.5-inch 540×960 qHD panel. It’s not a huge upgrade, but it’s something, and even at the larger size the pixel density increases from 216ppi to a more palatable 245ppi.
Of course, the Galaxy Core LTE sports Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface on top of Android 4.2.2, but with an LTE radio and likely a low price (the preceding Galaxy Core retailed for a little over $200), it might just be a tempting option for eastern Europe and Asia. What do you think?
