The Reason Why Night Shift Can’t Be On While In Lower Power Mode
iOS 9.3 comes with a new feature which gives an orange/reddish hue to your iPhone & iPad’s display for easier viewing and reading at night. It’s called Night Shift, and it really is quite a nice feature; I use it all the time except when I turn on Low Power Mode in case I have low battery.
By default, iOS turns off Night Shift when you turn on Low Power mode. The two features are supposed to be mutually exclusive, and for good reason: Night Shift mode is extra burden on your iPhone or iPad’s battery, since it changes its hue in real-time depending on what’s on-screen. You’ll notice this when you play vibrant videos; iOS will increase or decrease the blue hue.
So, iOS doesn’t allow keeping both on, but we’ve discovered a way to do so.
With Our Powers Combined… Turning On Low Power Night Shift Mode
To use Night Shift while in Low Power Mode, go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Night Shift. Now ask Siri to turn on Low Power Mode. Once it is on, just tap on Manually Enable Until Tomorrow to use both. This has been tested on iOS 9.3.1, and we have seen reports of it works just as well on iOS 9.3, and iOS 9.3.2 beta.
We honestly don’t quite recommend this. I mean, you turned on Low Power Mode for a reason: to get the most of your phone when you really need it, right? If you turn on Night Shift while you do this, it means your phone won’t last as long and you might not have it on when you need it.
I know there are users out there who keep Low Power Mode on most of the time. For such users, this will trick will do the job just fine.
