Alcatel is delivering two entry level Android phones to T-Mobile, and they offer what they say is high-end industrial design and features without the high-end price. First up, the One Touch Evolve, will retail for $28 down, with 24 monthly payments of $31 $3, according to Alcatel. The specifications are as follows:
- 4-inch WVGA 800×480 display
- Android 4.1
- MediaTek 1GHz CPU
- 4GB of internal storage with SD card slot
- 512MB RAM
Next we have the One Touch Fierce, which will sell for $20 down and 24 monthly payments of $6. The specifications for the Fierce are as follows:
- 4.5-qHD 960×540 display
- Android 4.2
- MediaTek quad-core 1.2GHz CPU
- 4GB internal storage with SD card slot
- 1GB RAM
It’s clear T-Mobile and Alcatel aren’t targeting the choosy consumer — someone who reads Android Central, for instance — and simply want to deliver at the price point. We’ve put in a call for clarity on the price of the Evolve, as it appears that there may be a typo at play in the information we were delivered.
Update: We heard back from Alcatel, and sure enough the price for the Evolve was in error. The One Touch Evolve will cost $28 down, with 24 monthly payments of $3, and not the $31 as originally reported.
The Evolve and Fierce will be available at retail partners on October 5, and the Evolve should hit T-Mobile online and select retail locations on October 16, and the Fierce will be available at the same outlets on October 23. There are a slew of press images and the press release after the break.
