One of the core reasons why Microsoft’s Bing search engine is not well received in most countries is that Microsoft restricts features regionally. It is not the only reason but Bing feels like a second class version in many countries but the US.

One service that is not available for example outside the US is Bing Rewards. Designed as an incentive to use the Bing search engine, members who join the free program earn credits while using Bing.

Using in this context includes searching but also testing out new features or performing other tasks. Credits can be redeemed for gifts or donated to charity.

If you open the Bing Rewards dashboard, you get a list of tasks that you can complete every day, once or in another time period to earn credits.

This ranges from doing searches on the desktop or mobile devices, inviting friends, or answering a simple question by using Bing to find the answer.

If you open the Bing Rewards dashboard right now or check the notifications while you are on Bing, you will notice a new offer.

You get one credit and 100 Gigabyte of OneDrive storage space for two years for free.

The catch? You agree to receive promotional emails from OneDrive in exchange for that.

It is possible however to unsubscribe from those at any time.

If you accept the offer you get the 100 GB extra storage for the next two years. The total storage on OneDrive is increased immediately but the 100 GB extra are not listed on the storage page on the site.

100 Gigabyte of storage space is available for $1.99 per month on OneDrive currently which makes this offer worth $47.76 in total over the two year period.

As mentioned previously, this offer is only valid in countries where Bing Rewards is available in. This includes the US and maybe one or two other countries but for most it is not available.

You can still sign-up using a VPN or a service like Zenmate and get the reward but there is risk involved in doing so.

If Microsoft catches up to you, it may terminate your participation in the program and remove the storage again from your account.

You can opt-out of the program yourself which does not seem to impact the free storage that you got though.

This is not the first time Microsoft offered OneDrive storage space on Bing Rewards. Last year, members of the reward program could get 100 GB of storage for one year for 100 account credits.
