There’s not a single word I can type here today that doesn’t feel trite after the week we all just had.
We’ve seen us at our worst. We’ve seen us at our best. We’ve all got a lot of work left to do.
We won’t fix ourselves in a day. There undoubtedly will be more horror. More heartache. We’ll allow ourselves to forget just long enough for it to happen again.
But I do have hope.
And I continue to marvel at the importance these little computers in our pockets played this past week.
A few other thoughts on things infinitely less important:
- Holy crap, who’d have thought Pokemon Go would have blown up the way it did? Maybe I’m just in the wrong generation. (Again.)
- Apparently there’s a change.org petition to get Niantic to put Pokemon Go on Intel devices. Sorry, but if you’ve got an Intel-powered phone you’re basically hosed. Sell it while you still can.
- I’m using a OnePlus 3 the next few days. It’s really good for a $400 phone. Hell, it’s really good for a $600 phone.
- Basically it’s what Huawei wants to do in the U.S., but hasn’t.
- If price isn’t an issue, though, it doesn’t beat the GS7 for me. But HTC has a real problem on its hands here.
- I can’t do it. I tried, but I just can’t bring myself to care about Huawei’s dumb Google+ post, in which an image attached to an exhalation of the Huawei P9’s camera was, in fact, sporting EXIF data showing it was taken with a fairly high-end DSLR. (Nice spot by AP.)
- Dumb? Absolutely. But is it an indictment of a phone, or of a company? Nah. More likely just a screwup from a marketing agency.
It’s not the first time that’s happened. Or the second. It won’t be the last. - If you’re judging a phone’s supposed capabilities by a company’s post on Google+, well, I can’t really help you anyway.
