315MB OTA now rolling out.

After skipping the May 2016 Android security patch entirely, Samsung has quickly turned around the June patch for the Galaxy S7 series in the UK. A new over-the-air update has started pushing out this morning to the Galaxy S7 edge, bringing the latest OS security patch level and additional camera stability fixes, according to the changelog.

The 315MB update also fixes an “occasional cover recognition issue,” so if you were using one of Samsung’s accessories, things should now work a bit more smoothly.

Post-update, we’ve noticed that Wi-Fi calling, introduced in the last GS7 update, switched back to disabled. Toggling it back on under call settings now displays a warning screen noting that not all carriers will work, there may be a battery cost for using Wi-Fi calling, and that it won’t work in power saving mode.

We haven’t specifically confirmed whether the same update is hitting the smaller, flatter GS7, but updates for the two are usually near simultaneous. If you’ve updated your Galaxy S7 or S7 edge today, hit the comments and let us know how you’re getting on with the new firmware. As always, unlocked models will get the update first, and carrier variants may lag a few days or weeks behind.
