The day before I/O 2016 kicks off, Mountain View prepares to host Google’s biggest developer festival yet.
Google I/O 2016 won’t officially get underway for another day. But the event’s new venue, Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, Calif., was open to attendees today for badge collection, giving us a sneak peek of what’s to come at the weeklong developer festival.
Attendees were queueing from 7 a.m. outside Shoreline, where a long queue could be seen winding out of the venue and out onto the sidewalk.

Google I/O 2016 attendee swag
As in years past, Google I/O attendees start the conference with a care package from Google. This year’s initial loadout of I/O swag includes a festival-style t-shirt and bandana multi-functional headware, along with a limited edition I/O ’16 Google Cardboard. And as this is the first I/O to be held outside in the California sun, Google’s packed sunscreen, I/O-branded sunglasses and an extra-large water bottle for everyone attending.
