Asus is all set to launch ZenFone Zoom in India on January 22. The camera-focused device was first announced at CES last year and then showcased at IFA in Berlin, and is touted as the thinnest smartphone packing in 3X optical zoom.
While we learnt that the device is launching in February in the US for a price of $399 a few days ago, it’s clear that the phone will hit Indian shores first. The phone itself sports a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS LCD Gorilla Glass 4 display, 4GB of RAM, 64 or 128GB of storage as well as a microSD slot. The Intel Atom Z3590 processor sits inside, charged up by a 3000mAh battery.
The 13MP Panasonic camera has 3x optical zoom, macro mode, and a ‘Super Resolution’ mode that combines 4 shots into one 52MP image. Dedicated camera shutter and record buttons make using the Zoom camera a snap. The ZenFone Zoom features Laser assisted auto-focus which can focus on the object within 0.03 seconds, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to keep blurry shots at bay, and 10 lens elements assembly, which includes four aspherical glasses, four glass lenses and two prism lenses.
