Chrome for Android will improve its data saving methods, as it will begin blocking images on pages that are loading on slow connections. The changes will take place in India and Indonesia first, with additional countries being added in the coming months. Data Saver mode in Chrome already reduces the amount of data that is used to load webpages, and that is getting even smarter.

Now, we’re updating this mode to save even more data – up to 70 percent! – by removing most images when loading a page on a slow connection. After the page has loaded, you can tap to show all images or just the individual ones you want, making the web faster and cheaper to access on slow connections.

The data savings will begin for users in India and Indonesia first, with more countries looking to be added in the coming months. All you have to do to get started is head into the Settings in Chrome then flip on the Data Saver mode.
