Charging on the go has never been faster and easier than it is now with Aukey’s Quick Charge batteries.
Easily one of the best new tech features in the past few years has been the implementation of Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, which dumps power from a charger into your phone at a blazing clip. But for most of us, that’s limited to a charger block plugged into a wall outlet. But for when you’re on the go, that won’t do — and that’s why Aukey’s been making Quick Charge batteries. But now there’s a pair of Quick Charge batteries that offer dual USB ports and up to 15,000mAh in capacity. That’s up to 5 full charges!
The design of Aukey’s new Quick Charge batteries is understated to say the least, and we like it that way. Both the 10,000mAh and 15,000mAh are simple matte black plastic blocks with USB ports and a little LED flashlight on one end. There are some design variations between the two — the 10,000mAh unit is smaller in footprint but a tad thicker, with the charging light behind the Aukey logo on the top and the power and Micro USB power-in port around the corners to either side of the power-out full-size USB ports.
The 15,000mAh battery has a more squared-off design with the Micro USB port on the same end as the charging USBs and the power button on the back. Both sport logos and markins as merely glossy black etched into the otherwise uniform matte black bodies. Here’s a quick specs break-down, in case size and weight are of importance to you:

If you’re following along, these aren’t exactly lightweight or compact, though they are reasonably-sized for what you get: lots of charge and fast.
Both batteries are equipped with a pair of full-size USB ports, one quick charge, the other a variable-amperage port. Both work as you’d expect — plug a Quick Charge-equipped smarpthone into the orange USB port and it will pour power into it at top speed at up to 12 volts at 1.2 amps. We tested it out with multiple Quick Charge 2.0-compatible devices and all charged up quickly. In fact, we used the batteries to charge up an iPhone 6s and a Moto X Style from near dead to over 90% while sitting in the back of an Uber from the airport to the hotel (about a 30 minute ride).

If your phone isn’t Quick Charge compatible, this battery will still dump power out, just not quite as quickly. That orange USB port also can push out power at up to 2.4 amps, while the other doses out at a more leisurely 1 amp (which is par for the course for most portable battery packs). With these large capacities, you can expect to get multiple charges out of either battery. In fact, we took both the 10,000mAh and 15,000mAh units with us on a week-long trip to Europe and ended up using just the larger one — never charging it and never fully depleting it despite daily top-ups.

Practically every phone will get at least 3 charges out of the 10,000mAh battery, while most will get 5 and change from the 15,000mAh unit. If you find yourself away from outlets throughout the day and use your phone enough that you’re searching for one, then the Aukey Quick Charge batteries might just be exactly what you need.
An added bonus: you can charge the batteries themselves with Quick Charge. Any Quick Charge-compatible charger will get it topped up in a few hours (even Quick Charge takes a while to fill these big boxes with electrons). Unlike some of the super-cheap batteries out there that give out after a few charge cycles, Aukey touts using Sony lightium ion battery cells that are claimed to last up to 1000 charge cycles (or filling up your phone 3000 times).

In addition to the batteries, Aukey has a pair of new compact mobile chargers, one with a pair of adaptive 2.4-amp USB ports, the other touting a single Quick Charge 2.0 port plus two more 2.4-amp ports. Both have fold-out AC plugs that make for compact bodies to tosee into your bag. The 3-port Quick Charge-equipped model falls in line with the matte black stylines of the batteries, measuring 2.75 inches long, 1.87 inches tall, and 1 inch wide. It’s a bit heavy for a charger, but is perfectly acceptable for tossing into your luggage.

The dual-2.4-amp USB charger is a wee number, clocking in at 1.2 inches wide and long, and 1.4 inches tall. Keeping with its tiny size and the lack of Quick Charge, this charger is lightweight enough that you wouldn’t notice it tossed into your briefcase, purse, or whatever bag you carry. The only knock against it is the glossy black finish that shows every fingerprint that’s ever touched it. Well, that and it lacks Quick Charge, though 2.4 amps is nearly 5 times the charge than you’ll get from the typical gas station single-USB charger.
