During today’s Google Nexus press event, the company announced plans to launch the Chromecast for Photos app. It will allow Android and iOS smartphone owners to stream their photos to big screen televisions via the Chromecast HDMI dongle
In addition to regular images, Chromecast for Photos also supports casting gifs as well. Users can leave the image as a full screen photo or they can poke through albums and search. Also, the last photo that is casted stays on the TV until the user opens a new photo. The app will also support local photos not backed up to the cloud.
The app will launch later this week on Android, and sometime “very soon” on iOS. Stay tuned for more information from Google’s Nexus press event.
