BatchBlitz is a freeware for the Windows operating system to batch edit images that you load in the program’s interface.
There are several reasons why you may want to resize an image or images. Maybe you want to publish them on the web or send them via email, and reduce the file size to decrease the time it takes to upload the images. Or, you want to include them in documents or on websites, and want them to be of a specific size.
Individual photos and images can easily be resized with virtually any image editor. Most image viewers do offer resizing options as well. But a specialized photo resizer is usually the better choice when multiple photos need to be resized or edited.

BatchBlitz is a free photo resizer for the Windows operating system that has been designed for that purpose. the program is easy to use, and divides the operation into three easy steps. First, you select the photos or images that you want to resize. You may use the built-in file browser for that.
It offers advanced file filtering options to find and process only the photos and images that you want to resize. Options include for instance name, location and regular expression filters. You may use drag and drop to move images to the processing queue, or use toolbar buttons or the right-click menu to do so.
The output settings are defined in the second step. You need to select a folder for the output files, or select to overwrite the originals instead. Files will be renamed automatically if duplicates are found, but you may also select to overwrite existing files instead.
The actions menu is the final step of the process. The photo resizing and editing actions are defined there.
The actions are divided into pre-processors, processors and post-processors. Pre-processors run on all files before the actual processing begins. Processors include processing actions like resize, rotate, crop, add text or auto contrast. Pre-Processors finally may be used to run actions on processed images. You may use them to convert images to a different format, or rename files.
The way the options are selected is probably not the most sophisticated one as each option has to be clicked on to open its configuration menu. It would probably have been easier to display the options right in interface.
Checking the actions for instance does not display the configuration menu.
A click on the Start button initiates the batch resizing of the images.
Verdict
BatchBlitz is a nice program that can easily be used to manipulate a large number of photos. The program’s interface could be improved though to streamline the process and make it a tad easier. The software can be downloaded from the developer’s website. (via Donation Coder)
