YouTube offline

After announcing YouTube offline in the country last year, Google is now adding functionality in the form of scheduled downloads and improved buffering when a video is paused. Indian customers will be able to set a time for a video to download, allowing them to download videos when on a stable connection. With cellular connectivity still spotty at best in most major cities, the feature will come in handy to those looking to watch YouTube videos on the go.

Also new is the ability to buffer a video when its paused, which shows the overall buffer progress. Background buffering means that the video will continue to download even when you exit the app or mobile website. No word as yet when the features will be rolled out to users in the country, but we’ll let you know once they are live.
