Google says there are now 1.4 billion active Android devices worldwide

During today’s Google Nexus press event, the company announced that there are currently 1.4 billion active Android devices worldwide. The numbers were recorded in the last 30 days.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated during the press event that Android devices have Android has doubled in the last year in India and Vietnam. He also revealed that since the budget-based Android One smartphones launched in Turkey a month ago, they has since become the top-selling Android phone in that country.

Pichai also said that Chromebooks are on track to become the single-largest platform in schools, with 30,000 new Chromebooks activated each day. In addition, 10,000 companies have been testing and deploying Android for Work. Finally, Google Play now has 1 billion active users in the last 30 days
